Axel is a big gentle giant, cane Corso cross breed who is looking for a calm and patient owner who can make him feel safe and loved. Axel came into us via an inspector because he was very under weight and was not getting the proper care he needed. He went out into a home but was returned back to the centre to us due to his owners no longer being able to manage him due to his size and some behavioural issues. We have been working with a behaviourist to try and help him with some of his fears and especially meeting new people. This is due to him missing out on vital things like food, socialisation, visiting new places, meeting new people etc from the age of 6 -12 weeks of age. You will need to be confident with large breeds and have an understanding of nervous behaviour and how best to help him. He will need to be rehomed to an adult only environment with no children. Axel can get scared of meeting some new people so ideally you wont have too many visitors in your home.
Axel loves other dogs and loves to play so he could be rehomed with a male or female of similar age, size and soft nature. He also loves his toys and he loves the water. Once he gets to know you he is a bundle of love and he enjoys his cuddles and lots of attention. He has made great progress whilst in our care and we have taken lots of time to help build his confidence and trust. We are helping him feel more relaxed around new people and We feel he is now ready to find a new and loving home where his next owner can carry this on with him.

You will need to be keen and willing to speak to the behaviourist we have been working with so you can further your own knowledge with how we have been working with him. This will be a very positive process for you and for axel with moving forward.'
