Can you offer Nero a new home?

Nero is a big, cuddly, bouncy boy that has found a new lease of life since being with us at Hillfield. He is a big lad, being an American Bulldog cross (we suspect part Great Dane but we don't know for sure) but he has the playfulness and squeaky bark of a puppy. He gallops around our secure field like a Gazelle, with pure joy in his eyes. We don't have much background on Nero, and he is having a lot of suspected 'firsts' here in Kennels. Such as wearing a harness, the freedom to run around off lead and going on walks in the field.

His training is coming along nicely. He is walking a lot better on the lead and has learnt some basic commands. Nero does have some guarding tendancies and his instinct is to protect his humans on walks from strange people, dogs, bikes and cars, although this has improved so much already, which is hard to achieve in a kennel environment. Nero can now walk in the field with a trusted handler and be distracted from other people and dogs from a short distance. He is also learning to make friends with other dogs and regularly walks with one of our placid female residents!

Nero has now been with us for over a year. Sadly he is often overlooked because of his size (he is around 45kg) and lack of socialisation earlier in life. The staff here adore Nero and see so much potential in him, he is highly trainable and wants to please his trusted humans. He is super loving and loyal! Our favourite trait of Neros is the tap dance he does when you scratch his bum!

Nero would make such a wonderful addition to the right home.
Unfortunately Nero needs to be the only animal in the home. His socialisation is coming along nicely but he wouldn't tolerate sharing his space and his humans. He could live with children aged 14+. We would like Neros owners to have large breed rescue experience, or experience with American bullies.
